Sharon Dawn Counsellor & Therapeutic Coach

Sharon Dawn Counsellor & Therapeutic Coach
Alongside qualifying as a counsellor, I have built a diverse career in healthcare spanning more than 35 years. My background in dentistry, including working as a qualified dental nurse and establishing a dental phobia clinic, has given me a deep understanding of the relationship between physical and emotional wellbeing.
I also spent five years working as a School Nurse, where I gained valuable experience supporting young people through the challenges of adolescence, emotional wellbeing, and personal development.
In addition, I worked as an end-of-life carer, supporting clients living with complex conditions including MS, ME, MND. This role held particular personal significance for me, having supported a close family member through their own journey with MND. These experiences deepened my understanding of loss, resilience, compassion, and the importance of being truly present with people during life's most challenging times.
Throughout my career, I have seen first-hand how closely emotional and physical health are connected. These experiences have shaped my approach as a counsellor and therapeutic coach, where I strive to provide a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space in which clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to create meaningful change in their lives.

Both counselling and therapeutic coaching provide a safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. However, they have different focuses and can be helpful at different stages of life. Often I use a combination of both, dependent on a clients individual needs.

Counselling offers an opportunity to explore emotional difficulties, past experiences, relationship challenges and issues that may be affecting your wellbeing. It provides a non- judgemental space where you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself, process emotions, and work towards healing personal growth and understanding.

Therapeutic coaching combines emotional support with a more forward-focused approach. While it acknowledges and explores any emotional barriers that may be holding you back, the emphasis is on helping you move towards meaningful goals and positive change. Coaching can be particularly useful if you are feeeling stuck, lacking confidence or wanting to set goals and create a more fulfilling future.
As we are all unique I will tailor therapy to your individual needs, often incorporating both counselling and coaching.
Some people come to counselling because they need support in understanding and healing from difficult experiences. Others choose therapeutic coaching because they are ready to focus on creating change and achieving personal goals.
Often, the two approaches can work beautifully together. By understanding what has shaped you and where you want to go next, you can develop greater self-awareness, confidence and a clearer sense of direction.
